Each of these sites has a feature that allows you to enter your address and get a listing of likely channels available in your area, including a listing of the compass heading for each station's tower.

To fine tune the antenna for optimal placement, try aiming the antenna in different directions or positioning the antenna in different places prior to permanently installing the antenna. Be sure to run a new channel scan every time you adjust the antenna.

Installing your antenna outside on your roof or as high as possible will increase the performance of your antenna. Trees, hills, buildings and other structures between the towers and your antenna can block the signal.

Preamplifiers, Distribution Amplifiers and Coaxial Cable
Amplifiers do not increase the antenna's signal. Amplifiers can overcome any cable or splitter loss to improve signal strength at the tuner in installations with multiple televisions or long cable runs in weak signal areas. Avoid using preamplifiers in urban areas, as the strong signal in these areas may be overdriven by additional amplification.

When selecting coaxial cable for your installation it is important to keep in mind how much signal loss occurs over large cable runs. RG6 is now the industry standard for coaxial cable and has less cable loss compared to standard RG59.
